Well, I went back in the hospital again this week. I am now fully familiar with the Labor and Delivery floor and several shifts of wonderful nurses. Unfortunately, I've done everything there except deliver Madeline.
Thankfully Miss Mattie has been doing incredibly well and was not troubled by my issues. I was admitted about 2 weeks ago with high fevers and after running tests and administering antibiotics, they thought it was most likely a virus. So, I came home and appeared to recover. However, after our baby shower in Kerrville (pics in earlier post), my fever returned, and I was admitted again. After numerous tests, they found the source of the infection - my kidney. Long story short my issues were asymptomatic except for the high fever symptoms (which were not fun). However, the infection was pretty intense with a high white blood cell count and a swollen kidney. But, I'm blessed - the infections where mostly asymptomatic or I would have been a really unhappy camper and Mattie was not bothered by the ordeal. After 3 days of fluids and IV antibiotics and strict release instructions, I was able to come home late Wednesday night. THANK goodness!!! I'm still on antibiotics and will remain on them until I deliver.
Thankfully, mom and baby are doing well, and Jeff and I are thankful to catch up on some sleep. I have an amazing husband who was by my side the entire time and has earned a "get out of jail free" card for the rest of our marriage. He was incredibly supportive as I struggled with not feeling well, multiple IVs, and functioning off almost no sleep. I love that man of mine.
Hopefully, we have been to the hospital for the last time until Miss Mattie Ann arrives in 4-6 weeks. I can't wait for her to be here and am glad to be resting at home!
Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support!

Our First Baby Shower
This past weekend, Jeffrey and I visited my parents in Kentucky. Several of my mother's amazing friends hosted a fabulous baby shower. Thank you Susie, Sue Ann, and Kathy! It was absolutely wonderful. I feel incredibly blessed to have such an awesome mother and to have the love and support of her friends in Owensboro. I can't thank everyone enough for helping us celebrate and prepare for Miss Mattie Ann's arrival. It truly was a "pink-filled" event. The decor, food, and cupcakes were fantastic. The event and wonderful gifts furthered our excitement for our soon to arrive little girl. Here are a few pictures from the brunch. Hopefully, I'll have a few more to post soon from some of the other ladies. Thanks again to everyone involved. It was a trip we will always cherish and remember!!!
