SJust a warning...this post is a little long. I neglected to write an 11 month update and then we have a TON of pictures we want to share...so, here it goes:
I finally got around to sort through all the pics on shutterfly and pull out a few of my favs. I’m so sad we do not have more pics of Mattie with our adult neighbors (we adore them) and our good friend Uncle David. If anyone has any other pics, please send them my way!

Mattie's 12 Month B-day Banner.
Jeff putting the final touch on his grilled pork sliders!
Two of my favorite people and college roomies Sara and Tricia!
Aunt Katherine
Dada, Nana, and Miss Mattie!
Mattie's new ride from Mimi and Big Dad!
Always happy to share food, just don't ask to play with a toy.
Warming up in the sun after mom soaked her hair trying to get out all of the icing!
Some of our adorable neighbors busy coloring!
Cutie Hudson and his mom Whitney!
Gotta love the Owen's boys. They even managed to have a little fun at the overwhelmingly pink party!
Love these girls:
Megan is just too cute and says the most adorable things. She has come over to "pet" Mattie several times (she use to come over to pet Macy), and she is going to teach Mattie how to pick out cute clothes and wear bigger bows! She also likes to ask "when is Mattie going to grow up?"
Our youngest party guest - precious Clark! The son of my all time favorite nurse, Beth, who took care of me every time I was in the hospital and when Mattie was born!
Love these ladies.
One year update!
I just can’t say it enough, we cannot believe it has been a whole year. Wow! So here are a few notable updates/milestones:
-Mattie still takes a few steps and has been for the last month, but she shows no interest in walking on her own. She cruises holding on to one hand or object, but always opts for crawling after a few steps on her own. She is a muscle machine and loves to do squats all on her own. She will just stand in the middle of the room squatting. It wears me out just watching.
-She has really started talking. She jibbers and jabbers, and even does what sounds like some impressive beat boxing…see the video. She still loves her “Dada,” but now says “Mama”, “Baba”, “Baby” (and she knows she is the baby), and within the last week, “Happy!” She loves to clap on command and when you sing “Happy and you know it.” She says what sounds like “Hi” when she waves or plays with a phone and also says “uh-oh” all the time when you say it, something drops, or when she throws something on the floor (that happens often!). She tries to say “thank you” and has the inflection down, but can’t get the “th” sound out.
-Loves to make the pig snorting sound and “ladal-ladal-ladal.”
-Is a real dancer. She will even push a button on a toy to make music and sway back and forth on her very own. Or, my favorite and she will start to sing in lalalas and sway to her own music.
-She loves her toys, and really loves new ones. A slight clarification - she really likes to throw her toys! She is still VERY active and aggressive! She is a huge fan of knocking down towers made of anything. She also is a “reader!” She loves playing with her books and being read to before each nap and bedtime.
-She loves to be in the water - her baby pool, the big girl pool, or even just the bath. She can brush her own hair and tries really hard to put her bows back in.
-She finally likes the soy milk (which is the only milk she drinks now) and is still a great eater at breakfast and dinner! We can’t wait to have her allergy tested again and keep praying she will outgrow the allergies to Dairy and Egg!
-She is still taking two naps each day and I dread the day we lose one of those. She sleeps from 7:30ish to 7:30ish – thank the good Lord!!!
- She weighs in at almost 19 pounds and is in the 30th percentile for weight. She is pretty lean. She is in the 50th for height and head circumference. We are glad she finally started growing into her noggin!
The most significant change is that Jeff and I are really starting to see a glimpse of the true pressure of parenting. Up until this point we have just been caregivers, but now we understand just a bit of the challenges of parenting a strong-willed child. We are working to educate ourselves and develop our discipline strategy. We love our little girl and her strong personality and look forward to the fun ahead! We continue to pray for wisdom, strength, patience, and good health and are so grateful for the blessings of the first year. Thank you for your continued prayers and support! God Bless!
Here are some other fun pics from the last month:
Sara was in town before Mattie's bday and came over to play!
Practicing her "stink" face and her snorting! What a lovely little lady!
Tricia and Sara had some great play time.
I love this pic!
Mattie loves Sara's keys....she just hasn't seen her car! J/K Sara, I will be so sad when you get a new one - that thing has a lot of memories!
Our girls' night out! So much fun and so needed! I still can't believe we stayed out so late! Thank you so much Tricia and Sara for a FANTASTIC night!
After Mattie's B-day, Jeff headed to Memphis for training and I headed to Austin to spend time with my parents and nephews. Mattie had a ton of fun staying cool in the pool!
I love this pic because she is pointing her toes like a little ballerina!
Just chillin with Cousin Preston - we've decided to call him Uncle Preston now. Preston and Parker were AWESOME with Mattie! They played with her a ton, kept a close eye on her, and were always helpful and entertaining!
Could she get more attention?
Not so sure about the sand at first...
Jeffrey arrived for the weekend and Sarah Boyd's 30th Birthday Party. Apparently, he went straight to work trying to drown Parker.
Daddy feeding her some french fries!
Headed out to Sarah's Birthday!
Yep, that is my child having a BLAST playing in the laundry basket.
We had a fantastic goodbye block party and dinner to wish our lovely neighbors goodbye. Here is a shot of all the kiddos! Love these guys!
Thanks Aunt Melissa and Uncle Mike for the blocks! I love to throw them. Mattie can't wait to meet her new cousin who will arrive within the month!
Mattie loves to give hugs and she is loving on her new monkey from Uncle David!
She is ready to start school next week!
Oh yeah, and we do still have a dog. Poor Macy does still find some time to get attention! However, she is having a hard time with all of Mattie's new toys....I will have to make a trip to pet smart!
